Beside the usual building physics Climatic Design Consult designed a hybrid system for natural ventilation for three floors of this building with solar chimneys. These solar chimneys extract in the heating season the ventilation air from these "closed" floors of the building, the section with moderate solar heat loads in summer. Air supply takes place by (passive controled) self adjusting air flow inlets (Compri). Pressures at the inlets are determined by CFD calculations, being first application of CFD for windcalculations in building sciences. These calculations, executed by Cyclone Fluid Dynamics (www.cyclone.nl) were at the same time used to predict CO- and benzene-concentrations around the natural ventilated parking lot under the building.

The research to daylighting office rooms at the atrium is conducted with Radiance These pages show some pictures of this daylight calculations.

Rijkswaterstaat and Henket show more elaborated descriptions of the building.
